Tiberian Generals: The Dawn of Nod is a mod for Zero Hour, with the intent to make the game worthy of the title Command & Conquer. This mod is not an attempt to convert Generals to Tiberian Sun. Instead, it is inspired by the Tiberian universe. The 4 sides will be GDI, Nod, Mutants, and CABAL. While the units in the mod may be inspired by the Tiberian series, they won't be limited to what that series included. So expect a completely different unit lineup, with some completely and totally new units.
The Generals will be changed to characters from the entire C&C series, mainly for nostalgic reasons. This mod makes no pretense of trying to fit into any position in the C&C timeline, which will allow freedom from any sort of "historical accuracy". All sides and factions will be unique, but no one side or faction will have a lethal advantage.
The old economy of Generals with gathering supplies early and then relying on "buildable derricks" later on is being replaced. Instead, you'll be harvesting Tiberium. Just like in the earlier C&C games, this resource spreads and can serve as your source of income throughout the entire game, no matter how long that game might be. An inexhaustible income also means the skirmish AI should attack you for the entire game rather than burn out halfway through.
Also, the mod will revamp the upgrade system and the Generals Rank system. Nearly all units will be upgradeable, and some of the more advanced units may require upgrades to be built. All superweapons will need an upgrade of some sort to be constructed, and hero units will require a promotion to a certain Generals Rank to be trained or built. The Ranks will be more difficult to obtain, but more Generals Points will be granted with each promotion. The AI will make use of these new upgrades in all dificulty levels, adding to the challenge.
This is my vision of an alternative to Zero Hour. But of course all suggestions are welcome here in our forums.
Goals of Tiberian Generals:
- Better Income: No more making Supply Centers useless late-game. Tiberium keeps spreading, so the money never runs out. "Buildable derricks" (supply drops, black markets, hackers) will be removed.
- Realistic AI: The AI will fight to the last man standing, and will not simply put all its resources into a decapitation-style early rush.
- Units and weapons: Will take advantage of the Generals rendering effects and be appropriate for more scientifically advanced armies.
- New features: Destroyable bridges, overhanging ledges, more eye-candy, and (maybe) naval forces will be added.
